Roylene Henrietta Givens, 95, of West Burlington, died at 7:38 PM Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born June 9, 1922, in Electra, TX, she was the daughter of Roy Sylvester and Julia Whittenbach Cunningham. On June 9, 1942, she married Arlie Ernest in Warica, OK.
Roylene worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant for ten years.
She was of Baptist faith. She loved word search puzzles, watching soap operas and Cubs games. She was an amazing cook, her specialty was fried chicken. She loved to travel to see her family and spend time with her grandchildren. Roylene was a self-less person.
Survivors include two daughters, Marsha Givens of Yakima, WA, and Michelle Campbell of West Burlington; six grandchildren: Anthony Jameson of West Burlington, Rachael Jameson of Mount Pleasant, Nicholas Schmidt of West Burlington, David Jameson of Burlington, Christina Riddle of Yakima, WA, and Sarah Shoemaker of LaHarpe, IL; seven great-grandchildren: Emma Gantz of Mount Pleasant; Cambria and Avacyn Jameson of Burlington; Australia and Caitlin Riddle of OK; and Daphne and Aiden Shoemaker of LaHarpe, IL; one daughter-in-law, Diane Givens of West Burlington; one brother, Kenneth Cunningham of Fort Dodge; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, one son, John, one brother, Raymond, two sisters, Annabel and Mildred, and one great-granddaughter Ashley Elizabeth Schmidt.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.
Visitation will be from noon until 5:00 PM Monday, December 18, 2017 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
A memorial has been established for the family.
