Arnold "Arnie" Thomas Tracy, 88, of West Burlington, passed away at 5:27 AM Sunday, July 21, 2019, at the Great River Hospice House.
Born December 15, 1930, in Maquoketa, IA, he was the son of Omie Arnold and Mamie May Prindle Tracy. On April 29, 1955, he married Johanna Marie Beckman in Batavia, IL.
Arnold worked for Thompson Manufacturing for five years in Geneva, Illinois and worked at JI Case where he retired in 1991.
He was a U.S. Marines Veteran, serving during the Korean War from November 5, 1951 until November 1, 1953. He received National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Medal, Korean Service Medal with two stars, and a Marksman Expert Medal. He became the sole surviving son after his brother died during battle.
Arnie enjoyed hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting. He had a huge sense of humor and was a member of UAW 807. Arnie loved his family and spending time with his wife at their property in Van Buren County.
Survivors include his wife, Johanna Tracy of West Burlington, two sons, Allan Lee Tracy of Plover, WI and Thomas Arnold Tracy of West Burlington, four daughters, Kim Colleen (Leroy) Hurka of Gladstone, IL, Margurette Marie (Steve) Sereda of Burlington, Brenda Tracy (Jerry) Maus of Kansas City, KS and Teresa Joy (Scott) Neuweg of Fort Madison; 16 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and one niece, Sheila Sweeney of Florida.
Besides his parents, Arnie was preceded in death by one sister, Lenora Baldridge, one brother, Allan Tracy, one great-grandchild, Lawrence Maus, and one nephew, Randall Baldridge.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.
Per the family's wishes, there will be no visitation or services at this time.
A memorial has been established for the Great River Hospice House.
