Irene Trimble, 98, formerly of Burlington, died at 10:09 PM Monday, July 22, 2019, at the Life Care Hospital in Fort Worth, TX.
Born July 30, 1920, in Oakville, IA, she was the daughter of William M. and Myrtie E. Nelson Crow. On July 24, 1941, she married WWII Veteran, Wilbur Trimble in a double wedding with her brother Clifford and his wife Edna at the Evangelical and Reform Church of Kahoka, Missouri. Wilbur passed on July 11, 2007, just short of their 66 year anniversary.
She was baptized and confirmed at the Kingston Methodist Church in 1934, then joined the Zion United Church of Christ - Latty in 1952. She served as a Sunday School Teacher, youth leader, superintendent, treasurer and president of the Woman;s Fellowship. After the closing of Zion - Latty, she attended Zion United Church of Christ in Burlington since 1983.
In June 1997, after a fire destroyed their house on the farm, they moved into town. Following the death of her husband, Wilbur, in 2007, she moved to Texas to be closer to her son, Gary.
Irene was a homemaker and helped her husband on their farm. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, playing games, and activities at the senior center.
Survivors include one son, Gary Wilbur Trimble of Duncanville, TX; three grandchildren, Deanna (Jimmie) Gibson of Sherman, TX, Clint (Susana) Trimble of The Woodlands, TX, and Diane (Christian) Nickel of Fort Worth, TX; four great-grandsons, Cole Gibson, Dillan Trimble, Caleb Nickel, and Jonah Nickel; two great-granddaughters, Ava Gibson and Alexa Trimble and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter-in-law, Barbara (Mundt) Trimble, eight brothers, Leonard, Virgil, Lloyd, Bert, Clifford, Glenn, Leo, and Hubert Crow, and two sisters, Ruth Godsil, and Sabbie Miller.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday, July 29, 2019 at Prugh's Chapel Downtown.
The funeral service for Mrs. Trimble will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at Prugh's Chapel Downtown with Reverend Brice Hughes officiating. Burial will be in North Walker Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for Zion United Church of Christ and North Walker Cemetery.
