Jerry Walden, 56, of Burlington, passed away at 1:51 PM Sunday, October 20, 2019, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born April 14, 1963, in Waterloo, he was the son of John and Sharon Strawn Walden.
Jerry worked as a Boilermaker at Union Hall in Kansas City for 25 years before retiring.
He graduated Burlington High School in 1981. Then he attended Indian Hills Community College where he received his Laser Technology Degree. Jerry also completed Boilermaker Apprentice School.
Jerry enjoyed reading, listening to music, playing games on his tablet, and always being right.
Survivors include his parents; one sister, Edith (Anthony) Kastantin of Burlington; two nephews, Stephen and Brad Kastantin; his godparents, Sally Kelly and Jake Blitsch; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.
The Memorial Mass of the Resurrection for Jerry will be 10:00 AM Friday, October 25, 2019, at Divine Mercy Parish-St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Very Rev. Father Marty Goetz as the Celebrant. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the Burlington Golf Club following the mass.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation.
