Jim Payne, 66, of West Burlington, died at 8:35 AM Monday, December 23, 2019, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.
Born September 8, 1953, in Monmouth, IL, he was the son of Carl Leroy and Lorraine Kersey Payne. On January 29, 1993, he married Tammy Lowry in Jackson, OH.
Jim was a retired truck driver for Shellman & Sons where he worked for 18 years.
Jim was a musician and played lead guitar in several local bands. He was an avid deer hunter, fisherman and mushroom hunter. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy of West Burlington; seven children: Laci (Josh) Payne of Burlington, Emili Payne of St. Louis, MO, Julie Middleton of Hartsville, SC, Jamie (Liz) Derry of Galesburg, IL, Jesse (Jenny) Payne of Lugoff, SC, Jason Payne of Hartsville, SC, and Jeremy (Sandy) Payne of Hartsville, SC; siblings: Karl (Judy) Payne of Siletz, OR, Mike (Michelle) Payne of Katy, TX, Tom (Ruth) Payne of Abingdon, IL, Joe A. (Kristi) Payne of West Point, Susan Blanchard of Carroll, IA, and Lori (Bob) Steffensmeier of Stronghurst, IL; 23 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and his Chihuahua, Boomer (a.k.a Dad's Boy).
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends from noon until 2:00 PM, Monday, December 30, 2019 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home .
The funeral service for Jim will be 2:00 PM Monday, December 30, 2019, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Collier officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Grove Cemetery.
