LaClare "Cork" Taylor Sr., 82, of Burlington, passed away at 1:04 AM Friday, July 19, 2019, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Born February 6, 1937, in Youngstown, OH, he was the son of Lester E. and Doris Pauline McVay Taylor. He married Rita Fuller who he later divorced. On August 23, 1969 in Stronghurst, IL, he married Peggy Brookhriser who he later divorced.
Cork was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. He was a truck driver and drove a school bus.
Cork enjoyed bowling, shooting pool, darts, reading, puzzles and books.
Survivors include four daughters, Hazel M. Taylor of Riverside, CA, Pearl A. (Ron) Phillips of Montrose, IA, Missy Taylor of Denver, CO and Kathryn "Kay" C. Taylor of Burlington, four sons, LaClare "Ed" E. Taylor, Jr. of Springfield, MO, Terry L. Taylor of Springfield, MO, Ernest P. (Theresa) Taylor of Greenville, SC and Larry Taylor; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and another on the way.
Besides his parents, Cork was preceded in death by a stillborn daughter, Christina Taylor, one brother, Robert Taylor, one infant sister and four grandchildren.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.
There will be no visitation or services. Inurnment with full military honors will be held at Keokuk National Cemetery at 2:30 PM on Friday, July 26, 2019.
