Larry Springsteen, 81, of Burlington, died at 11:12 PM Thursday, November 21, 2019, in Burlington.
Born August 4, 1938, in Iowa, he was the son of Harry Lloyd and Bessie Esther Ferrington Springsteen. On July 8, 1967, he married Donna Laue in Burlington.
Larry graduated from Huron High School in the class of 1958.
Larry was an iron worker for the local 577 union.
He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and served as a medic.
Larry was a true outdoorsman; he enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He also liked music, traveling, working on old cars and building things. He always had a project going. Larry was a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and St. Louis Cardinals baseball.
Survivors include his wife, Donna of Burlington; three sons, Brian Springsteen and Kevin (Anna) Springsteen both of Burlington and Larry "Bud" Lee Springsteen, Jr. of Poultney, VT; two daughters, Tammy Ita of Burlington, and Joan (Eric) Westcott of Massena, NY; eight grandchildren: Andrew, Jordan, Elizabeth (Stephen), Morgan (Blayde), Trevor, Caitlin, Ellen and Benjamin; one sister, Marjorie Reynolds of Sperry; one brother, Kenneth Springsteen of Burlington; former son-in-law, Joe Ita of Burlington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday, November 25, 2019 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mr. Springsteen will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Judy Ann Morse officiating. Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. A time of food and fellowship will be held at First United Church of Christ following the burial.
A memorial has been established for the Great River Hospice House.
