Lucile Maxine (Wilson) Ebert

May 6, 1930 ~ October 3, 2019 (age 89)

Lucile Maxine Ebert, 89, formerly of Burlington, died at 12:45 am Thursday, October 3, 2019, at the Marigold Rehab and Health Care Center in Galesburg, IL

Born May 6, 1930, in St. John, KS, she was the daughter of Ray Sherman and Elna May Wear Wilson. 

Lucile taught in Missouri for 14 years, in Illinois for 17 years, and at Southeastern Community College for two years.  She also worked at the Women's Abuse Center, Brain Rehab Hospital, and was a foster parents, ministers wife and associate pastor for five years.  

She was a 1948 graduate of Langdom High School, Langdom, Kansas; 1953 graduate of Phillips University, Enid, Oklahoma receiving her B.S. in Religious Education; 1959 graduate of University of Illinois, Normal, Illinois receiving her B.S. in English Education and a 1979 graduate of University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls receiving her M.S. in English.  

She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where she had been active in the church choir, being the church organist, writing for the church paper, calling on the sick and worship leader.  She enjoyed Silver Singers, where she played the organ and perform vocals.  She also enjoyed writing poetry, needlework, tutoring at Corse Elemetary, walking four miles a day, dancing, reading and crosswords.  

Survivors include one daughter, Debra Rae (Michael) Haworth of Burlington; one grandchild, Todd Haworth; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Ruth Irene Bromley of Washington, IL; two nieces, Delores and Jeannette, and two nephews, David and Tim.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, and one son.  

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory

The memorial service for Mrs. Ebert  will be 1:00 PM Saturday, October 12, 2019, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend David J. Yonker officiating.  

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name to First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
