Robert W. Hogberg, 92, of Burlington, died at 1:57 AM Saturday, September 21, 2019, at the Great River Klein Center in West Burlington.
Born at home on August 25, 1927, in Burlington, he was the son of Joe and Ethel Weaver Hogberg. On March 31, 1951, he married Lucille K. Conn in his parent's home.
He served in the U.S. Army as a Dental Hygienist.
Robert worked as a machinist for Burlington Northern Railroad for 43 years. He was President of the International Association of Machinists for several years.
He enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his wife and wintering in Texas in their motor home. He was mechanically gifted and enjoyed working on cars, there wasn't anything that he couldn't fix. He was always there to help his children.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Lucille K. Hogberg of Burlington; three sons: Jeff (Leslie) Hogberg of El Cajon, CA, Jim (Tamyra) Hogberg of Danville, and Jerry (Alma) Hogberg of Burlington; two daughters: Jody (Paul) Lyon of Naperville, IL, and Judee Hogberg of Rochester, MI; eighteen grandchildren, five step grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Harold and Wayne Hogberg and Carl Johnson; and 3 step-sisters, Irma Runyan, Loretta Kirkendall and Donna Titus.
Cremation will be entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory following the service.
Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The memorial service for Mr. Hogberg will be 11:00 AM Thursday, September 26, 2019, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend David J. Yonker and Reverend Brooke Anthony officiating. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home following the service. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Great River Klein Center.
