Carrie Sue Chicken, 59, of Burlington, died at 5:50 PM Friday, March 27, 2020, at her home.
Born November 2, 1960, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Russell and Betty Martin Rawlings.
She was a 1979 graduate of West Burlington Arnold High School.
She married Robert “Bob” Chicken on May 6, 1994, in Burlington.
Sue worked as a bartender around Burlington for years. With some persuasion from her husband Bob, she joined him as a cook and deckhand on a fishing boat in Alaska.
Sue was a die-hard fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs. She was thrilled when the Chiefs won the Super Bowl earlier this year. She enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, and loved sitting on their deck overlooking the Mississippi River. She was a great cook and entertainer, and credited her grandmother Velma Rawlings for her culinary skills. Sue had many friends and never met a stranger. Most of all, she dearly loved and was very proud of her nieces and nephews.
Survivors include her husband, Bob; step-mother Helen Rawlings of Burlington; two brothers, Robin Rawlings (Trudy) of O'Fallon, MO; and Rodney Rawlings (Jane) of Fargo, ND; sister-in-law Vicki Rawlings of West Burlington; three sisters, Carol Johnson of Garland, TX; Carla Draper of San Diego, CA; and Chriss Bouquet (Bob) of Allen, TX. She was the beloved Aunt to 20 nieces and nephews and 24 great nieces and nephews.
