Donald Eugene Phillips, 91, of Burlington, died at 6:05 PM Thursday, March 12, 2020, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born April 7, 1928, in Corona, SD, he was the son of Clarence Milo and Clara Wilhemena Seahoffer Phillips. On May 15, 1954 he married Patricia Lucille Luetger. She passed on September 22, 1998. He then married Roberta Murk. She later passed.
Don worked as a machinist.
He was an Army Air Force Veteran serving from 1945 until 1947 in Newfoundland and Iceland.
Don enjoyed jewelry making, stained glass and fused glass work.
Survivors include one son, Ronald Gene (Carolyn) Phillips of Burlington; two daughters, Pamela Kay (Kevin) Carruthers of Bloomfield and Cynthia Lynn (Andy Crawley) Katelnikoff of Amarillo, TX; five grandchildren, Jamie, Laura, Becky, Samantha and Adam.Six great-grandchildren Braydon, Makayla, Lillian, James, Aiden and Gunner; and his lady friend, Pat Henry, with whom he made his home; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two wives, one son-in-law James, one grandson Eric two brothers Elmer (Bud), Melvin and two sisters Nellie, and Etta.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM Sunday, March 15, 2020, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Don will be 3:00 PM Sunday, March 15, 2020, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend David J. Yonker officiating. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard to begin the service.
A memorial has been established for the Great River Hospice House.
