Gary Wayne McGinity, 61, of West Point, died at 9:00 PM Thursday, August 13, 2020, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born March 23, 1959, in Burlington, IA, he was the son of Melburn F. McGinity and Darlene May Saldeen Russell.
He was a 1977 graduate of Burlington High School.
He worked for American Ordinance for 29 years.
Gary was of Christian faith and attended the Salvation Army Church. He was happiest when spending time outside. He was an avid fisherman and spent many hours on the river in his boat. He also enjoyed hunting, especially deer and coyote.
Survivors include two brothers, Dan (Lisa) McGinity of Burlington, and Steve McGinity of Danville; one step-sister, June (David) Leibil of Winfield, IA; one step-brother, Don (Theresa) Hillman of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Melburn, Jr., one sister, Gloria, one step-brother, Phillip Hillman and numerous aunts and uncles.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mr. McGinity will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 19, 2020, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend Ron Jewett officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Great River Hospice House and the American Cancer Society.
