Michael Dean Belknap, 57, of Burlington, died Sunday, May 3, 2020 in Rushville, IL.
Born August 11, 1962, in Mount Pleasant, he was the son of Walter Mohnike and Frances Victory. On September 9, 2017, he married Deborah Nupp in Burlington.
He graduated from Burlington High School.
He worked for the Des Moines County Correction Facility for 15 years. He also worked for Great River Medical Center and the U.S. Gypsum Plant.
He was an ATV and truck enthusiast, and was always working on and fixing them. His most recent project was a four-wheeler for his grandchildren. He loved racing. He enjoyed camping, being outdoors, mowing people's yards for them, cooking and BBQ's. He was a Dallas Cowboy's fan. He also loved couponing and regular trips to Menard's. He loved his family and spending his time with them.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah Belknap of Burlington; two sons, Jason Belknap of Burlington and Austin (Cassie) Belknap of Burlington; one daughter, Erica Belknap of Burlington; two step-sons, James Nupp of Burlington and Shawn Lewis of Burlington; one step-daughter, Ivy Fullerton of Burlington; nineteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild; his father, Walter Mohnike of Burlington; two sisters, Anita Smith of Mediapolis and Pamela Mohnike of Burlington; and two brothers, Scott Mohnike of Cedar Rapids, and Gale Dirth of Wapello.
He was preceded in death by his mother and one brother.
Family will receive friends Saturday, May 9, 2020 from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home. Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, social distancing and other public health measures will be implemented. Cremation will be entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory following the visitation.
