Obituary

Nancy Nuebel, 79, of Burlington, died at 7:40 AM Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at her home surrounded by family.

Born March 17, 1941, in Burlington, she was the daughter of John Doak Taylor and Zelda May "Cargill" Taylor-Cuttyback. On September 14, 1974, she married David Nuebel at Asbury United Methodist Church in Burlington.. 

She graduated with straight A's from Burlington High School in 1959. She went on to study nursing at a junior college. 

Nancy was a devoted stay at home mother and secretary for her husband Dave. She also worked at Walgreen's on Agency, for a short time, in the beauty department. 

Nancy loved to host events and gatherings at her home. She also hosted the Boogie Bash.She was passionate about flowers and gardening, and even though she didn't consider herself a Master Gardener she was proud to let them draw inspiration from her flower beds on many occasions. One of Nancy's favorite pastimes was caring for the hummingbirds in her yard and watching them out the window. She also liked to watch the cows in the pasture near her home. She spent many hours volunteering for The Garrett Phelp's House, Des Moines County Historical Society, Burlington Steamboat Days and among many others. Nancy's family remembers her as a talented accordion player and undefeated UNO champion. She was happiest when cooking and baking for her family and friends, spoiling her grandchildren and attending their sporting events and musical performances. 

Survivors include her husband, David of Burlington; one son, Scott (Tina) Buxton of New London; two daughters, Lynn Hardy and Kelli (Tim) Lundgren both of Burlington; grandchildren, Dade, Emmalea, Taylor, Jacob, Joshua all of Burlington, and David, Jennifer, and Joe of Nevada; one  brother, John (Mary) Taylor of Naperville, IL and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Joyce Gorman and Stacey Twyman and step-father, Earl Cuttyback. 

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

There will be no visitation or services at this time.

A memorial has been established for the Burlington High School Class of 1959 Scholarship Fund.
