Virgilio Reyes Sorio, 67, died at 6:05 AM Friday, November 6, 2020, at his home in West Burlington.
Born September 26, 1953, in San Carlos City, Philippines, he was the son of Antonio and Rosa Reyes Sorio. On April 22, 1979, he married Alicia Navarro in San Carlos City.
He graduated San Carlos College with a degree in Marine Engineering.
Virgilio worked as the Chief Engineer on large vessels in the Philippines. After moving to America, he worked for Shearer's Foods in Burlington, Iowa.
He was a loving person; he was a hard worker, understanding, generous, helpful, and giving. He enjoyed helping a lot of people. He especially loved his wife, children and grandchildren. He was the family photographer and enjoyed staying connected to his family through Facebook. He enjoyed singing karaoke and making jokes that were very funny.
Survivors include his wife, Alicia; three children Alexis (Myrna) Sorio, Ecila (Rafael) Caranto, and, Virgilio Sorio, Jr.; one daughter-in-law, Flor Sorio: seven grandchildren, James Wilver, Vincent Sorio, Eshie Lalaine, King Alvir, Prince Viral Sorio, Lexi Sorio, and Mycia Sorio; seven siblings, Juanito (Tess) Sorio, Antonio (Jing) Sorio Jr., Rene (Mila) Sorio, Rolando (Arsenia) Sorio, Josefina (Danny) Imus, Venus (Antonio) Bulatao and Alita (Ahmir) Sorio and two sister-in-laws; Cristy Sorio, and Emma Sorio.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Gileo Sorio, and three brother, Teofilo Sorio, Chito Sorio Sorio and Marcelo Sorio.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
A memorial has been established for the family.
