Cecil L. Dillard

November 16, 1929 ~ May 31, 2019 (age 89)

Cecil L. Dillard, 89, of Burlington, passed away at 4:55 AM Friday, May 31, 2019, at the OakView Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Burlington.

Born November 16, 1929, he was the son of Samuel Adolphus and Ida Jeanette Stevenson Dillard. On December 31, 1966, he married Marcella Canterbury in Burlington. She passed away on November 29, 2009.

Cecil worked for the Henderson County Highway Dept. in Stronghurst,Il  and later for the City of Burlington.

He was a U.S. Navy Veteran.

Cecil was a member of First United Church of Christ where he served with the Outreach Committee and also helped with the church meals serving lemonade. He was also a member of Circle B Square Dance Club and the Night Owl CB Club. He was an avid Hawkeye fan and enjoyed watching basketball, listening to blugrass/country music, reading, square dancing, going to Indy 500 races and traveling to Texas in the winter. Cecil loved to play the guitar and would play at the Senior Center where he enjoyed dancing, and also played at nursing homes.

Survivors include his companion Betty Ringold of Burlington; four sons, Greg (Rose) Dillard, their child Stephanie, Jerry Dillard, Daniel (Cathy) Dillard, their children Justin,Jana,Corey, and Scott (Joni) Dillard, their children, Jordan,Justin; one daughter, Kay (Tony) Griepentrog, their children, Alyssa and Lyndsy, and their families; one step-son, Mike Wilson; two step-daughters, Connie (Jerry) Herman, their child Lea, and Marcia (Brian) Luers, their children Lesley, Matthew, Jacob, Ashley, and their families; and Cliff's children, Brenda, Shelli and Kenzie.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM with the family receiving friends Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at First United Church of Christ.

The funeral service for Cecil will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at First United Church of Christ with Pastor JudyAnn Morse officiating.  Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the First United Church of Christ following the burial.

A memorial has been established for the First United Church of Christ.
