Marvin "Marv" Brockett, 64, of Burlington, died at 9:30 PM Friday, December 20, 2019.
Born May 2, 1955, in Burlington, he was the son of Harve and Darlene Conn Brockett.
He attended the Warren Achievement school in Monmouth IL until the age of 21.
Marv loved racing, especially NASCAR and dirt-track races. He was an avid 34 Raceway fan and attended many events throughout his life. He was also a fan of the Green Bay Packers. He was an avid bowler and a great swimmer, winning several Special Olympic medals. Marv loved animals, karaoke, dancing, traveling, playing pool and horseshoes, shooting darts, and wrestling. His favorite thing to do was hang around the fire pit at family gatherings in Gulfport. He volunteered as a firefighter in Gulfport and helped with the fish fry every year.
Survivors include his brother, Roger Brockett, Sr. of Burlington; and several nieces, nephews and family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Jerimy Brockett, Sr.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday, December 27, 2019 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The memorial service for Marv will be 10:00 AM Saturday, December 28, 2019, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Ned Fry officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the Burlington Moose Lodge following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society and Fulton County First Responders.
