Marlene Ann Raid, 72, of Burlington, died at 8:00 pm Friday, June 5, 2020, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born March 10, 1948, in Ottumwa, IA, she was the daughter of Melvin Ernest and Bonadelle Jean Fullerton Raid.
Marlene was a nurse and had worked for a few care facilities in town. Her most favorite was Elm View Care Center in Burlington.
After high school, Marlene obtained her Associates Degree in Nursing, and her Bachelors Degree in Education.
Marlene was always very generous and giving. She was always donating to various groups and organizations in town. She loved gardening and watching the birds stop by on her many bird feeders. She had an affection for Cardinals, and loved to watch them in her yard, and collect the figurines. She was very artistic and enjoyed painting and working with clay and she was also a very talented writer. Most of all, she was a very proud mother, and loved her family.
Survivors include two sons, Eric (Jen) D'Souza of CO, Geoff D'Souza of China; one daughter, Meghan D'Souza of Burlington; two sisters, Connie (Bob) Martin of Burlington, Mary Raid of Granbury, TX; one brother, Melvin (Jolene) E. Raid II of Granbury, TX; three grandchildren, Jack, Alex and Owen D'Souza of CO; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Patricia Raid-Harrison.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
There will be no visitation or services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Young House Family Services.
