Roy Brennen Vaughn, 90, of Burlington, died at 2:58 am Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at his home.
Born April 17, 1930, in Eolia, MO, he was the son of Charlie and Effie H. Thomas Vaughn.
He was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Louisiana, MO.
He worked production at Sylvania, Champion Spark Plug and GE for several years.
Roy served in the Army Airborne and was stationed in Korea from 1951 to 1953. He was a member of the NAACP and the A. Philip Randolph Institute. He ran the Golden Gloves Boxing Club in Burlington and was a former Golden Gloves boxer himself. He loved all sports and played golf, baseball, softball and bowling. He was a member of Union Baptist Church Full Gospel Fellowship.
Survivors include his significant other, Pat Lucas of Monmouth, IL; one daughter, Teresa M. Vaughn of Burlington; one grandson, Andre Vaughn of Springfield, IL; one sister, Theodora Love of Chicago, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, one brother and three sisters.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society.
